Objectives:

The focus of the CLIMIT programme is on fossil fuel-based power generation with CO2 capture and storage (CCS). The programme is administered jointly by the Research Council and Gassnova, and is targeted toward research, development and testing/demonstration of fossil fuel-based power technology that incorporates CCS.

This includes:

  • CO2 capture before, during or after power production;
  • Compression of CO2;
  • Transport of CO2;
  • Long-term storage of CO2 and other areas of application.

The programme provides funding for activities within all phases of development and commercialisation of new solutions.
 

This programme/activity normally accepts grant applications from:

Industry, independent research institutes, universities and university colleges.

Open-ended

Overall budget:

The budget for R&D projects (funded by the Research Council) is NOK 99 million for 2010. No budget increase is expected for 2011.

There is an open-ended call for proposals at Gassnova, which has an annual budget of approximately NOK 83 million for demonstration projects.
